VISITOR AGREEMENT to SAFE & INCLUSIVE SPACES
The Columbia River Maritime Museum welcomes all visitors. Respectful sharing of our spaces ensures an enjoyable and enriching experience for everyone. Appropriate behavior, decorum, and conduct are required at all times so that every visitor has an equal opportunity to enjoy a meaningful visit. By purchasing admission and entering the Museum, you agree to comply with the following Visitor Agreement. Any actions listed below may result in removal from the Museum without refund.
PARKING - Museum parking lots are reserved for Museum visitors during their visit, as well as for staff, volunteers, and other authorized vehicles.

REPORTING CONCERNS
If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior, please notify a Columbia River Maritime Museum staff member immediately. All reported allegations will be investigated promptly, thoroughly, and impartially.
- Engaging in any activity that violates Federal, State, or local law, or Museum policy—including the possession of guns, knives, dangerous weapons, hazardous materials, or other prohibited devices.
- Not complying with reasonable requests, expectations, or restrictions communicated by Museum staff or volunteers.
- Disruptive or disorderly behavior including running, yelling, fighting, threatening behavior, harassment (sexual or otherwise), or unwanted/inappropriate contact with staff, volunteers, or other visitors.
- Use of or being visibly impaired by alcohol or drugs; possessing or selling illegal drugs; using tobacco or vaping products inside the Museum or within 25 feet of entrances/exits.
- Wearing offensive (explicit messages or imagery, hate speech, discriminatory or harassing messaging, political or religious slogans, insensitive or controversial slogans or designs) or overly revealing clothing or entering the Museum without a shirt or footwear.
- Sleeping, lying down in public areas, or camping anywhere on Museum property.
- Leaving trash or litter anywhere on Museum property.
- Entering galleries without proof of admission, entering areas closed to the public, or being inside the Museum before or after hours without permission from authorized staff.
- Touching exhibits, artifacts, or collection items unless explicitly permitted. Stealing, damaging, altering, concealing, or misusing any Museum property.
- Soliciting or conducting business without authorization from the Museum’s Executive Director.
- Use of prohibited wheel devices including skateboards, roller-skates, bicycles, scooters, wagons, jogging strollers, and shopping carts. Wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, and motorized ADA mobility devices are permitted.
- Use of Museum electrical outlets.
- Bringing pets or animals inside the Museum except for service animals assisting individuals with disabilities.
PARKING - Museum parking lots are reserved for Museum visitors during their visit, as well as for staff, volunteers, and other authorized vehicles.
- Oversized vehicles (over 15 feet in length) must use designated Oversized Parking areas.
- No overnight parking is allowed.
- Unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles may be impounded at the owner’s expense.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Food or drink in galleries or exhibit areas unless authorized. Water in a secured bottle is allowed. No other liquids. Gum is not allowed in galleries, theaters, or Museum retail locations.
- Food containers (unless medically necessary), coolers of any size (unless medically necessary), and liquids other than water.
- Large bags or luggage
- Large objects such as flags, banners, sporting or recreational equipment
- Marking materials, paint, adhesives, epoxies, or glues
- Plants or flowers
- Craft/utility knives, tools, screwdrivers, or similar implements
- Costumes, including full-face masks
- Any other items that may place Museum artifacts, exhibits, or guests at risk, as determined by Museum staff

- Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- As a courtesy to other visitors, please silence your phone and take calls outside of the galleries.
- Respect the hands-on spaces in Mariners Hall STEAMWorks and Block Harbor (both opening Fall 2026) by using exhibit materials as designed and keeping all parts in their designated areas.

SERVICE ANIMALS
The Columbia River Maritime Museum is committed to welcoming a wide and diverse audience, include those assisted by trained service animals. The Columbia River Maritime Museum complies with the Americans with Disabilities act (ADA), which defines service animals as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. The Columbia River Maritime Museum allows service dogs in all public areas of the Museum.
The Columbia River Maritime Museum does not allow Emotional Support Animals (ESA) inside the Museum. Emotional Support Animals, Comfort Animals, or Therapy Animals which provide comfort do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
The following questions will be asked of each guest with a service dog:
If the dog is out of control or not housebroken, the handler will be asked to remove the dog from the Museum.
Retractable pet leashes are not allowed in the Museum.
