Planned Giving

..Your generous gifts directly support impactful educational programming and exhibits, and enable us to sustain the operations of the entire CRMM campus. Thank you for considering us in your philanthropic plans. Your gift can unrestricted, for the museum to use as needed, or restricted for a specific purpose aligned with your priorities, such as education, or exhibits, or facility maintenance. There are many ways to give; for all the options listed below, we recommend you consult with a financial or legal advisor to determine what best fits your situation.

Gifts of Stock: You can avoid capital gains tax by giving shares of stock, mutual funds and ETFs that have been held at least a year, rather than selling the shares first. This is a great way to maximize your gift while taking advantage of the tax deduction.

Gifting from your IRA: The IRS allows people over 70 ½ to make direct transfers from an IRA up to $108,000 per person in 2025 to a charitable organization, without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income.

Endowments: Your gift from any source to an endowment will ensure a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding for the Museum, leaving a lasting legacy and protecting the Museum from future economic downturns.

Bequests: You designate CRMM as a beneficiary of your asset by will, trust or beneficiary designation form.

Beneficiary Designation: You designate CRMM as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment, bank account or life insurance policy.

Donor Advised Funds: You fund a DAF and make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. When you pass away, your heirs can carry on your legacy of giving.

Life Estate: You may donate a home now, reserving the right to continue occupying the home until death. The most common way to create a life estate is to file a new deed naming the beneficiary who will receive the property after the life tenant’s death.

Charitable Remainder Trust: A CRT generates a potential income stream for the donor, or other beneficiaries, with the remainder of the donated assets passing to the donor’s designated charitable beneficiaries after no more than 20 years.

Tribute / Memory Gifts: Honor the special person in your life—parent, spouse, grandchild, friend—or any memorable occasion. If you would like to let the honoree know about your gift, we'll send them a special gift acknowledgment.

CRMM’s EIN is 930509906.  To discuss gifting options, or obtain wire instructions, call (503) 325-2323 or email [email protected].
Donations can be mailed to: Columbia River Maritime Museum, 1792 Marine Drive, Astoria, OR 97103
