The latest addition to the Museum’s 13-acre campus is The Warnock Commons & Model Boat Pond. After almost five years of planning and construction, the sliver of commercial property at the east end of the Museum’s parking lot, known as North Coast Auto Service, was transformed into a pond designed for sailing model boats, part of the Museum’s vision for a park-like campus around the Barbey Maritime Center.
Along with the pond, the park includes a kiosk for rentals of a wide array of boats for different ages and skill levels, from single-piece wooden hulls to radio-controlled vessels. The pond itself and surrounding park are open to the public.
UPDATE - Due to COVID-19 restrictions, boat rentals have been suspended until 2021.
